Characteristics of the Passional tulip bulb:
The color of the flower of the Passionale tulip bulb is soft purple. The classically shaped flower stands on a sturdy stem of about 35 cm. The leaves are low on the stem and have a wave at the edges. The flowers of a group of Passional tulip bulbs bloom at the same height. Due to its low height, this tulip bulb is suitable for planting in a pot.
The Passional tulip bulb belongs to the Triumph tulips. This is by far the most important group of tulips. They are created by crossing ankle-early tulips and single-late tulips. Characteristic of this group are the sturdy stems and an exceptionally beautiful flower shape. There are many cultivars available in all possible colors. They are semi-high tulips (up to 50 cm). They are excellent cut flowers with a long vase life. All cultivars are also good to use in the garden.
The best planting time for Passional tulip bulbs are the months of October and November. The tulip bulb needs some time to form roots before the first frost comes. If you plant the tulip bulbs before October, there is a risk of frost damage because the tulips will emerge too early in the spring. The planting depth is 3 times the height of the bulb. In order to bloom in the spring, a tulip bulb needs the indispensable winter. So a cold period, which should last at least 9 weeks with a temperature below 10 degrees Celsius. Tulip bulbs are best planted in well-loosened, not too wet soil. If they are too wet, the bulbs will rot and there will be no flower. They do well in sun or partial shade. Plant tall tulips in a place where they are protected from strong winds to prevent blowing over. You can plant the tulip bulbs in groups or scatter the tulip bulbs and plant them where they fell. The latter gives a natural effect.
The Passionale tulip bulbs also do well in a pot or container. One of the most important rules is: ensure good drainage, because tulip bulbs cannot withstand too much moisture. After planting, you can bury the pots and cover them with a layer of straw to protect them from freezing. As soon as the tulips rise above the ground, the pot can be removed from the ground and placed at its destination.
